Acquisition and economics
Before increasing ad spend, check the whole customer journey.
More traffic also sends more people into every unclear page, missed handoff, slow response, and disconnected retention process already in the system.

Short answer
Short answer: trace one record before you spend more.
Pick a customer or lead from the last few weeks and follow their record from the ad through checkout or the sales pipeline. Find the first stage with no clear owner or status. Fix or measure that stage before treating more traffic as the plan.
1 · Acquisition
Start with the promise that earns the click.
Write down the audience, problem, offer, message, and destination for the campaign. Then check whether the destination continues the same promise instead of making the visitor reconstruct it.
Ecommerce
Check that the ad, product or collection page, price context, availability, and next action agree.
Lead generation
Check that the ad or referral, landing page, qualification cues, and expected response agree.
2 · Conversion
Define the conversion before optimizing it.
A completed order, a qualified inquiry, and a booked conversation are different events. Name the event, its required fields, where it is recorded, and what it does not prove.
- Reduce uncertainty
- Make the offer, next action, constraints, and confirmation state understandable before adding urgency or experiments.
- Check instrumentation
- Confirm the event fires at the real completion point and can be reconciled with the system that owns the outcome.
3 · Follow-up
Treat the next handoff as part of marketing.
After the conversion event, the record needs an owner, a response or fulfillment rule, a visible status, and an exception path. Automation can move information; it does not remove human accountability.
- For an order
- Check confirmation, fulfillment status, support ownership, and the consent rules for later communication.
- For an inquiry
- Check assignment, response attempts, qualification, the next sales step, and a reason when the record is closed.
4 · Retention
Keep the relationship useful after the first result.
Retention starts with the experience delivered, not a sequence of messages. Identify the customer event that justifies the next contact, the value that contact provides, and who reviews the workflow.
Customer signal
Use a real purchase, service, usage, support, or renewal event that the business can define.
Responsible next action
Choose a useful message or service step, respect consent, and stop when the trigger or data is unreliable.
Increase spend only when you know what it will enter.
Trace a defined sample through the journey. If a handoff has no owner, status, or usable evidence, make that gap visible and fix or measure it before treating more traffic as the answer.
- 01
Trace
Follow records from one source through a shared time window and write down where the trail breaks.
- 02
Choose
Pick one gap tied to a real decision, owner, and system of record.
- 03
Verify
Run a bounded check, keep the exceptions, and decide whether the system is ready for more demand.
